LRSN stands for Logistic Role Specialist Nation. It is a NATO arrangement in which one nation takes responsibility for providing or procuring a specific logistic capability and/or service for all or part of a multinational force, within a defined geographic area and for a defined period. NATO sets this out in its Logistics Handbook.
NATO's own wording is the singular "Logistic Role Specialist Nation", so "logistics role specialist nation" is a common variant of the same term. The abbreviation is LRSN in both cases. The arrangement belongs to the set of mechanisms NATO uses to deliver logistic support to multinational forces.
Where LRSN sits among NATO logistic support mechanisms
The NATO Logistics Handbook lists LRSN support alongside several other ways of implementing logistic support. These are Logistic Lead Nation (LLN) support, Multinational Integrated Logistic Units, Multinational Logistic Units and contractor support to operations. Each mechanism answers the same question: who delivers a given piece of logistic support to a force made up of several nations.

What an LRSN is responsible for
An LRSN is responsible for one specific capability or service, not a broad range of functions. NATO gives examples from two supply classes. In Class I, an LRSN might be responsible for combat rations or bottled water. In Class III, it might be responsible for quality control or diesel.
The responsibility is bounded in three ways. It covers a particular capability or service, a defined geographic area and a defined period. It may apply to the whole multinational force or only to part of it. The handbook also states that the nation's responsibility can include procuring the capability, so the nation does not have to produce the goods or services itself.
How LRSN differs from Logistic Lead Nation support
The difference is breadth. A Logistic Lead Nation takes on the wider range of logistic functions for a force, while an LRSN covers one narrow role. NATO treats them as distinct arrangements, but they are not exclusive. An LLN may also provide capabilities in the role of an LRSN.
Compensation and national responsibility
NATO states that compensation or reimbursement for LRSN support is subject to agreements between the parties involved. The handbook does not set a single payment rule. The terms depend on what the participating nations agree.
The arrangement also operates inside a wider principle. NATO's page on its role in logistics states that individual countries have ultimate responsibility for equipping their forces and providing logistics resources until forces are released to NATO through agreed mechanisms. LRSN is one of those mechanisms for sharing the load.
What LRSN means for Canadian suppliers
LRSN is a NATO term, and the NATO handbook does not prescribe Canadian bidding requirements or name a Canadian procurement vehicle. Its relevance to suppliers is indirect. A nation acting as an LRSN may procure the capability it has taken on, which means industry can be the source of items such as rations, water or fuel. If a Canadian solicitation or contract refers to LRSN, read the tender documents closely for the capability, area, period and reimbursement terms. Those details are set by the agreements between the parties involved, so confirm them with the contracting authority named in the solicitation.
